It was already fairly dry up north by the time I got down there. Though the Wildman Track (Mary River area, way up north) was still closed, as were a few other things.
However, I got rained out down south in early June! I visited Lake Eyre on June 6/7 and it was just a mud flat due to recent rain. Then I started out the Strzelecki track later on June 7, and made it about 120 km from Lyndhurst by nightfall. However it started raining (sometimes fairly hard) overnight, so at first light (still raining; see pic) I started driving back to Lyndhurst. The track was okay at first but got very slick. Much of the time I couldn't go over 20 kmh or I'd start sliding around. It took me over five hours to get back to Lyndhurst, and of course by then the sign was showing that the track was closed!
It was definitely the right choice though (rather than continuing toward Innamincka or staying where I was in the absolute middle of nowhere) as it kept raining for a few more days.
