Last time I checked you need to be both a celebrity and a great driver to have a good ride these days. Dale was both and he was the guy who brought being a celebrity into the sport.


Now sponsors want both. You can't just be a good driver and expect to get sponsorship...you have to be marketable. I don't hear people pitching a fit when Jimmie Johnson or Jeff Gordon go to concerts, or high profile parties in new York with celebs and fashion models. Hell Elliott Sadler has talked about hanging out with celebs on the Speed channel. They all do it...Dale hung out with Brooks and Dunn, did videos, movie cameos....hung out with quite a few country musicians.

But let's crucify Junior for doing the same thing other drivers do and that his father did...
