Hmm, I hadn't thought about it!
I believe the only day I didn't actually speak to anyone else was May 21, the first day I was driving on the Duncan Road. Every other day I at least went into a store to buy a coke or something when I was bored with plain water! A couple of times, I went in just to ask about the weather! But along the Duncan there are no roadhouses, stores, or any other public facilities. ![]()
Plus most days I called back to check in with my point of contact in the U.S. ![]()
And you're darn right, lots more wide open space there, especially once you get away from the coasts! Fewer than 21 million people in an area the size of the 48 states...and moreover the vast majority live in the coastal cities. So much of the rest of the country is rather unpopulated. ![]()
I look forward to another visit, but heaven knows when that will happen!
