Dale credits NASCAR for getting the opportunity to appear on the hit show.

On Sunday, May 3, Dale Earnhardt will compete in two races ... the California 500 Presented by NAPA and a very different kind of race in Arlen, Texas.

Earnhardt will make a guest voice appearance during the animated comedy series "King of the Hill" airing Sunday, May 3, 8:30-9 p.m. on FOX. The episode "Life in the Fast Lane, Bobby's Saga" begins when Bobby Hill gets a job selling sodas at the raceway. The whole gang hits the track, including Earnhardt.

"I had a great time working with the people from 'King of the Hill,'" Earnhardt said. "It was a surprise when they asked if I was interested in doing a part for the show. After talking to the writers I found out they are big NASCAR fans and they followed the series."

King of the Hill is the sophomore hit half-hour, animated comedy series from the fevered minds of Mike Judge, the creator of "Beavis and Butt-Head," and Greg Daniels, co-executive producer of "The Simpsons." This offbeat series follows the lives of Hank Hill and his family and their neighbors in the fictional suburb of Arlen, Texas.

"I'm fortunate to be in a business that gives my opportunities to do things like this," Earnhardt said. "It says a lot for NASCAR and how our sport and its athletes have become recognized across the country and around the world."
