Earnhardt to change look

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Sept. 23, 1998)
Dale Earnhardt and the GM Goodwrench Serivice Plus Chevrolet team will have a new look next weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The famous black No. 3 Monte Carlo will no longer carry just the word PLUS across the hood. Instead, it will have the entire GM Goodwrench Service Plus logo, the same logo that is seen on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and NHRA teams.

Monday, Oct. 5, Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet will be having its 12th Annual Celebration Open House. The Celebration starts at 9 a.m. EDT and will be open until 6 p.m. EDT. Scheduled to appear from 2 to 5 p.m. and sign autographs are Earnhardt, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Ron Hornaday and Steve Park.
Other racing celebrities planning to attend are former NASCAR champion Ned Jarrett and motorsports artist Sam Bass. Various sponsors will have displays throughout the dealership, along with food and beverage concessions.
Richard Childress Racing Museum will be holding a fan appreciation sale during the next two weeks with discounts from 10 to 50 percent on marked merchandise. They will also be offering tours of the RCR shops Monday through Friday. The RCR Museum is located in Welcome, N.C.
Earnhardt visited Martinsville two weeks ago and was part of the dedication ceremonies for the speedways new suite area. While in town he stopped by Martinsville High School to address some of the student body and answer some of their questions about auto racing.
"We had a good time at the high school," Earnhardt said. "I encouraged all of them to stay in school and continue their education beyond high school. I regret not finishing school."
