Summary:
Earnhardt finishes 7th in Pocono June 20
Dale Earnhardt notched his eighth top-10 finish of the season with a
seventh-place showing at the Pocono 500 on Sunday.
Earnhardt, who started from the 25th spot at Pocono Raceway,
worked his way quickly into the top-15. Fast pit stops all day helped keep Earnhardt in
the top-10. Dale had himself up to fourth spot with 25 laps remaining, but didn't have the
car to catch Bobby Labonte. Dale slid back to finish seventh, while Labonte took control
of the race with 15 laps remaining and held off Jeff Gordon for his second win of the
season.
Earnhardt moved back into seventh position in points, a spot
he held two weeks ago, with his top-10 finish.

qualifies 25th in Pocono June 18
Dale Earnhardt was perched perilously on the fence, but when it was all said and
done, the Intimidator had qualified in the top-25 for the Pocono 500.
Earnhardt was on the bubble as Derrike Cope, the last driver
to take the track, began his qualifying run on the 2.5-mile banked Pocono Raceway. But
when Cope got a little sideways in the middle of his lap, Earnhardt was assured the 25th
spot in the starting lineup for Sunday's race.
Earnhardt turned his lap in 53.445 seconds at an average
speed of 168.397 mph.
It is only the eighth time in 15 Bud Pole Qualifying sessions
that Earnhardt has cracked the top-25.
His average starting position in 1999 is 24th and his average
finish is 14th.
