Felt it was necessary to pass along some information. Through 28 races, Junior's average finish is 14.7. The team has had three engine failures that have resulted in finishes of 39th, 37th and 35th. They also had part issues at Texas (29th) and Michigan (36th). Their other finishes outside of the top 20 were the result of a team mistake at Martinsville (24th) and getting caught up in a wreck at Watkins Glen (30th).

At Texas he was running third when the battery died which was caused by a failed alternator. At Kansas they had a top five car but were screwed over when NASCAR allowed Keselowski to run around 20 laps with debris flying from his car before it finally fell off during a pit cycle. Charlotte they weren't great but still could have pulled out a top 10 effort. Both Michigan races they had a car capable of winning. Kentucky the car was capable of winning but suffered bad luck by running over Hamlin's tire. Watkins Glen they were running 13th when they were caught up in the wreck. At Chicago they had a good car but got screwed in the pits and then the engine blew.

Take out those races where the team had part failures or other things happen out of their control, their average finish is 8.85. If you count every race this season outside of the three DNFs, the 88's average finish is 12th.

Bad luck and part failures happen to every team of course but the point is that the 88 team has the ability to run well and win when things do go right. They've had horrible luck this year, particularly when they've been really good.
