North Carolina renames highway after Earnhardt

CONCORD, N.C. (October 22, 2002)
North Carolina has adopted a formal law that will name a stretch of highway after Dale Earnhardt.

Governor Mike Easley will sign the bill on Wednesday in Raleigh. The bill will change Hwy. 136 to Hwy. 3 and name it Dale Earnhardt Highway. The 28-mile road goes from Hwy .150 in in Iredell County and ends in Cabarrus County.

The stretch of highway passes in front of Dale Earnhardt Inc. in Mooresville.

Teresa Earnhardt, widow of the late driver, will attend the bill signing.
